The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) of Florida included several ITS deployments as part of its FY2020 Capital Improvements Plan. The first item was a replacement of the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) system that was installed on the agency’s fleet of approximately 200 buses. The original CAD/AVL system had been installed in 2007, and was growing obsolete, as it was becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement parts and meet cybersecurity and customer service goals. Thus, it was being completely replaced.

The estimated overall cost was approximately $9.8 million, broken down by year as follows:

FY2020: $2,458,540
FY2021: $7,375,619

TOTAL: $9,834,159
