Notes

DSRC is a variant of Wi-Fi. As a result, and since the RSU already supports DSRC, the DSRC link could be used as described above to link the RSU to a mobile system (handheld or truck mounted) that would then provide a backhaul link to a center facility. Strengths: Exists in RSU by default, zero added cost, No backhaul wiring installation. Limitations: Only suitable for local manual RSU programming using a localized device. Not a true remote backhaul, Requires development of secure system access system to prevent unwanted RSU tampering, May require external antenna.
