Between 7.4 and 8.1 million crashes could be prevented if Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) connected vehicle technology was mandated now, instead of waiting an estimated three years to develop other technologies such as C-V2X.

The analysis compares the possible fatality reduction of DSRC technology to projected deployment rates to calculate its overall effects.
